I used to read English Dennis the Menace at my Scottish grandparents' house. They used to get the Beano annuals, which was the comic in which Dennis appeared. He had black hair and wore a red and black striped sweater (although, I guess they'd call it a pullover or a jersey or something, and I'd call it a jumper).
